Since I’ve seen this greenhouse themed restaurant on HBO’s Insecure I knew I wanted to give it a try.
I was finally able to set aside some time to venture over to Korea town to check out the swanky restaurant. Wait time & Seating: I had made a reservation prior on Opentable. Since I went during the day, as soon as we arrived we were seated. I can definitely see this place being crowded on the weekends. It’s not very large inside. There is a patio, which looks like it can be used for private parties.
Service: The service was eh. My server came over and introduced himself in a timely manner but was very slow on making his rounds again. I ordered a single shot of whisky that took forever to arrive.
Food: I ordered the clam chowder ($11). Interestingly, the clam chowder has Tabasco in it. It’s something that I would have never thought to put into my chowder but it offered an interesting kick. However, the portion size was for that of a baby. The bowl had no depth to it. I was definitely not full.
When people go to Commissary, they are only going for the ambiance. The greenhouse feel is pretty cool and I’m sure it’s beautiful on a bright, sunny day. The food is good but they can add in an extra scoop or something!
Will I go back? Nope. It’s just not worth Ktown traffic or small portion sizes.
Thanks, but no thanks.
