Jay-Z is my favorite rapper! He is a true inspiration for me because he’s super intelligent yet still very authentic and about his business. WHENEVER Jay comes to town, I’m there. Yet this time around, I took a more unconventional approach. I attended the opening and closing of the tour (SO AMAZING!). Jay opened the 4:44 Tour in Anaheim, CA at the Honda Center on October 27th. The show did not sell out, so I ended up snagging a ticket from StubHub for $27! That’s right TWENTY-SEVEN DOLLARS! Now this was just a ticket to get me in the building. I didn’t actually sit in those seats because I’m sure they were at the top of the building. However, with the show not being sold out there was an abundance of empty seats. I guess people in the OC don’t mess with Hov like that. A friend and I ended up with a whole row to ourselves. The seats gave me a clear view of the entire stage and I was in love.
The set design is spectacular. Being in the center of the arena leaves you with a good view from anywhere. The oversized monitors were a genius idea also.
Fast forward to Dec 21st, the last night of the tour at The Forum, I still did not have a ticket. I had been watching ticket prices all week on both Ticketmaster and StubHub. The show was definitely sold out except for a few single seats around the venue. Before going to sleep, I checked Ticketmaster around 1am and they had a $37 seat. After taxes and fees 🙄, the ticket came up to $52. Of course I bought it. The seat was way in the rafters but of course I was not going to sit there. I found a row of empty seats and danced the night away.
The show is AMAZING! If you missed it, you truly missed a good one. Los Angeles was 10x better than Anaheim. The LA crowd was into the concert a lot more which made Jay get hype.
Discography wise, you get a great breadth of his work. From Reasonable Doubt to banging feature verses like Mya’s “Best of Me”.
If I could go again and again I would! Thank you Jay Z for a memorable experience!!!
