We are headed back to Thailand. This time Phuket. This is the last destination on our South Asia excursion as well as the place where we will be the longest.
We started the day flying in and then getting to our hotel. We are staying near Patong beach which is about 45 minutes to an hour from the airport. Be advised that airport shuttles try to tourist trap you by taking you to vacation package services.
After that brief stop, we finally got to our hotel.
It’s so cool and swanky. It literally just opened in December. They have a surf simulation out front and bar that plays very trendy music.
Since we arrived early, we couldn’t check in so we took a short stroll to a local restaurant. I can’t think of the name so I’m going to say Sweet Restaurant, but it’s for sure close to it. I had the spring rolls, shrimp curry with rice, a mai tai and a shot of jack Daniel’s. The food was awesome and fairly priced but still expensive for thailand. I paid 625 Baht.
We stuck around the area so that we can be close to the hotel. When we finally were able to check-in, we were so exhausted it was for sure nap time!
After a power night, it was time to see Phuket nightlife. We headed down to Bangla road, which is a popular area near Patong Beach.
We walked up and down this street, taking in the street performers and all the tourist attractions. We ate at the street food market. I had the seafood fried rice which was delicious and it was only 150 Baht. 3 DOLLARS!
After eating we roamed around before going to a ping pong show. The sex industry is very big and problematic but it is also a big tourist attraction.
There’s no video or photos allowed so I wasn’t able to capture many of the unimaginable things I experienced. I saw a lady shoot darts out of her vagina to pop balloons. Another woman pulled out a string of blades and then cut up things. One woman popped the cap of soda water with her vagina. Another woman dropped goldfish into a fishbowl. I even saw a woman pull a live hamster out of her vagina!
People come to Thailand for the experience of a ping pong show, me included. The show is free but they hike up the price on drinks. Be sure to negotiate. Everything is negotiable.
We ended our night stopping by a bar on Bangla Road that was playing hip hop.
It was an awesome first day in Phuket.
