I’m off to Thailand! Thailand has always been on my lists of destinations to visit. It looks so beautiful and I LOVE Asian food.
I departed from my beloved, yet hated, LAX flying to Guangzhou, China and then flying to Bangkok, Thailand. I am flying on China Southern, which is an airline I am not familiar with but they had the best flights for the price. Speaking of price, my round trip ticket was $510, which is a steal!!!
Will I fly China Southern again? Probably, for the right price. They were very accommodating. They served a meal pretty early in the flight. There was no chicken option only beef or pork. I decided to go with the beef but all I could think about was Soul Plane when Kevin Hart ate the beef stroganoff.
The meat was tender and flavorful. Surprisingly, the potato salad was good as well. They also gave me the smallest cup of wine. If I would have had a whole bottle of wine it would have been LIT!
I watched the movie “Room”, which makes me cry like a baby. I also watched a few episodes of Project Runway. I did a few word search puzzles. I did some reading. I even started editing my dissertation proposal. But I mostly slept. At the beginning of the flight there was a couple sitting next to me. They moved before takeoff so I ended up having the whole row to myself. Having the row to yourself can make coach feel like first class. Awkwardly, they came back to their seats right before landing. I have no idea where they were for 14 hours, but why would you come back?
While I was a sleep, they left me a cute little note.
If you’re going to be on a plane foreva, you better get the best service!
The only downside of China Southern was the delay of the flight which made me miss my connection to Bangkok. Throwing off my whole evening. I didn’t leave China until 11PM (local time). The flight from Guangzhou to Bangkok was just 2 hours. This flight also gave a meal and this time there was a chicken option.
We landed in Bangkok at 1:40AM. It took forever to get out of the airport. I first had to exchange my money because I heard you get better rates in Thailand. I then had to go through customs that took FOREVER! It seemed as though they didn’t have enough people working.
I also ran into issues getting the shared shuttle that I pre-booked. So I had to get a taxi, which cost 600 baht (roughly 20usd).
We are staying at the Legacy Suites Sukhumvit by Compass Hospitality.
I am writing this post and it is 4:23am. Signing off now. I’ll be able to give a full review of the hotel tomorrow or today 🤷🏽♀️
