Workout?! Why?? I hate to workout! Absolutely hate it. I do not enjoy and I try to stray away from the thought of it. If drinking was a workout (like pictured above), I would be in the greatest shape. However, in order for me to get that poppin’ body I have to put in the work. As I get up in age, my body doesn’t just take care of itself anymore, so I’m forced to workout.
In order to muster up the energy or desire to get to workout, I utilize a number of different strategies.
Workout With Others
I am much more motivated to do any type of physical activity when I am doing it with others. Scheduling workout dates with friends has helped to get me in the mood to even go to the gym. I also go to the gym with my mom sometimes. I have found that when working out with others it makes exercising a lot more enjoyable. It is also motivating to see your friend put in the work for his or her poppin’ body while you are doing the same.
Workout Really Early or Really Late
I have found that working out either really early or really late is best for me. When I work out early in the day, I am far more motivated to accomplish goals throughout the day. When I work out really late, or towards the end of my day, I can just go home, shower and then go to sleep. It is like working out is the perfect bookends to the day.
Wear Workout Clothes
50% of my wardrobe consist of workout clothes, so you would think that I would work out a lot more. What I have found is that when I wear the workout clothes, it helps to trigger some motivation to head to the gym. By wearing workout clothes, I am already half way there in getting to the gym since I am dressed for the occasion.
Identify #BodyGoals
I have identified a few celebrities, or just random photos from the internet, to be my #BodyGoals. Looking at the bodies of others sometimes motivates me to get to the gym and reach that body goal.
Plan To Go and Stick To It
This has been the most helpful for me. When I put it in my planner that I am going to gym, 9/10 I actually go. I see it as almost a challenge of having to go workout because it is written down. I also plan to do things around going to the gym. For instance, there is a Ross near my gym. I tell myself, “Okay Kandace, go workout and then go browse Ross”. It’s small wins that count.
