My yearly reading challenge continues with another suspenseful thriller. “The Woman in the Window” by A. J. Finn is very similar to books like “Girl on the Train”, “Gone Girl”, and my most recent read, “Into The Water”.
This book is very much so a page turner. It took me no time to complete this book. From the beginning, I was all in. I think it is because the main character is an alcoholic. The book is also written in a stream of consciousness style which makes it an easy read.
It is not my style to reveal the entire plot of a book just in case you are interesting in reading, but here’s a very brief rundown. The main character, Anna Fox, has not left her house in ten months following a traumatic accident with her husband and daughter. Since she does not leave her home, she people watches from her window. After new neighbors move in, she witnesses her new neighbor get murdered. Since she is dealing with depression paired with alcoholism and has been in seclusion, no one believes her. Then the story unfolds into a whole heap of just jaw dropping mess.
This book is already being adapted into a film. According to the author’s Instagram page, the film is being produced by Scott Rudin, who also produced Fences, No Country for Old Men, and The Grand Budapest Hotel.
I would definitely give this book a 4/5 stars. It was an easy read and had so many OMG moments.
