I have a serious obsession with luxury items. I wholeheartedly blame my mother. She introduced me to designer labels at a very young age and as I got older the obsession just grew and grew. Yes it is a frivolous way to spend money, but you might as well spend money on the things that make you happy.
I typically buy consignment luxury items (from eBay) but I have never used an app! There are a number of different ones out there but I was recently introduced to Fashionphile and I love it!
What is Fashionphile?
Fashionphile is a high-end consignment boutique that offers authentic, pre-loved and, sometimes new, items.
The app could be more user friendly as it isn’t very seamless on ios13. It is somewhat challenging to refine the search. I enjoy that you are able to save various items by liking them or “heart-ing” them. It creates a sole space for all the things that you like. My favorite feature of Fashionphile is that you can put items on reserve, which is essentially like lay-away.
My Experience
After liking a lot of options, and going back and forth if I should spend the money, I settled on a pair of Balenciaga Track Runners. I had my eye on these shoes for a while and my obsession with shoes is ridiculous. Since I was going back and forth on whether or not I should spend the money, I put the item on reserve. To reserve the item, you have to put down a percentage of the item. I put down a third of the cost of the item. You are able to put down more but no less. From your first payment, you have to sixty days to pay. I paid off my balance within a month.
Instead of having the item shipped to my house, I shipped my item to Fashionphile’s Beverly Hill’s location. I hate Beverly Hills, mainly because I (a Black woman) do not really feel welcomed there. The Fashionphile office is not easy to find and, from the street, looks like a simple door. After you buzz in, you walk up a flight of steps lined with velvet and gold runner. This location is not ADA accessible at all. When you get to the top of the stairs, it is a luxury bag, showroom heaven. The minimal design is jaw-dropping with mono color bags ranging for Louis Vuitton, Gucci, MCM, Prada and more. I was able to snap a pic of the Birkin wall. While I hate Beverly Hills, it was for sure heart-warming to see a Black woman sitting at the desk!
I will shop with Fashionphile again just to hang out there. My experience buying was great. Even got a tote bag which is going to come in handy. I am also in love with my purchase. Balenciagas are for sure chunky but surprisingly very comfortable. I was nervous about the sizing because I am in between a 41 and 42 but the 41 fit great.
I would like to sell with Fashionphile. I have some Louboutins that I would like to get rid of. I’ll update this post if that ever happens.
