Since we are all under a shelter-in-place order, I have decided to avoid many of my responsibilities by watching television. I am currently invested in many shows so I thought I would share with you all as well.
Westworld

I scrolled past this show for years and never gave it much thought, but one day someone mentioned on Twitter how good this show is. I spent just short of a week watching the two previous season to get all caught up. The show is currently in the third season so catching up is very doable.
I am an amusement park fanatic so episode 1 had me hooked. It is wild to imagine going to an amusement park and the characters being real. I also love this show because there are so many storylines occurring concurrently. Maeve is my favorite but Delores is badass!
Little Fires Everywhere

I read this book two years ago, and was really curious to see how it would come to life in a series. I must say that the series is impeccable. I absolutely love Reese Witherspoon because she plays well-to-do White woman so well! I am not the biggest Kerry Washington fan, and I kind of feel that she is making Mia unlikeable, but the juxtaposition of both characters is awesome. Also, the actress who played a young Mia (Tiffany Boone) deserves all the awards because, not only was she playing the character, but she also emulated Kerry Washington’s mannerisms.
I hope the positive feedback from the show that the author will consider writing a sequel.
Black Monday
From episode 1, this show is a wild ride and I love it! I would have never thought that Regina Hall and Don Cheadle in a comedy is something that I needed but whoo I love this show. I was definitely late to this party and I binged the first season in a matter of days. I’m thankful for a friend that put me on this show.
Dave
A friend of mine in college swore that Lil’ Dicky was one of the best rappers ever and I honestly just shrugged. While I am not sure whether or not he is a great rapper, I do know that this show is funny as hell! I live for dry, witty, sarcastic humor and Dave delivers all of that. It also sprinkles in all of your fav rappers with relatable content. FX has supreme content and I love it!
90 Day Fiancé

90 Day Fiancé is always a wild ride but Ed has taken my obsession of this show to new heights. It is mainly because he has the audacity to be so bold when he looks like that. I feel so sorry for Rose because she is trying to simply pave a new way in life and she thinks Ed is the way, and baby girl, he is not! Lisa and Usman’s relationship is also jokes because he thought it would be okay to bring a White woman home to his African family. I also enjoy looking at other people’s relationships crumble, which is good tv.
But look at what Ed looked like before. This is crazy!
Money Heist

I am super late to this but people on Twitter keep going up about how good it is so I finally decided to start it. While I do like the show and I think the plot keeps you on your toes, I do not like that it is dubbed in English. I would have preferred it to be in Spanish with English subtitles (but I know a lot of y’all don’t like to read). I am only on Part (Season) 1 and there are 4, so I have a lot of catching up to do.
Shows I Am Looking Forward To
Insecure

After nearly two years without Insecure, I can say that I truly have missed it. I particularly love how this show send Twitter ablaze with gender and relationship arguments that are so outlandish. The new season just started and the frenzy it caused within Black Twitter made it even better.
The reason I love this show is because it does not over dramatize the lived experiences of Black woman. It’s relatable, “normal” content that is an absolute joy to watch.
The Last Dance

I am so glad that ESPN listened when we asked that they should consider moving up the release date of this documentary since we are all in the house anyway. My obsession of Michael Jordan comes from being an avid buyer of his shoes and his impact on the game of basketball. I was too young to really understand firsthand who he was as a person. Jordan has already said that this documentary will make him look like a bad person, which is telling in itself. The first five minutes of the documentary has been released.
I am going to be glued to my television weekly to see this 10-part series unfold which begins on Sunday, April 19th at 9pm EST.
