Due to COVID-19, many of our trips have been cancelled or postponed. I had a whole travel wishlist for this year. While many people are still quarantining and following shelter-at-place orders, there are others, like me, that have resumed travel but with modifications.
Have a supply of disinfecting wipes
Clorox wipes were hard to come by, but now there has been some restocks, even if they are the off brand. I packed a small ziplock bag of wipes to use on the plane and in the hotel. Fortunately, Delta had given every person boarding a wipe and single use sanitizer. When I got to my hotel room, I wiped down all surfaces that would be potentially touched. This included light fixtures, tables, tv remote, and phone.
Use disposable masks
I am the biggest advocate of disposable masks. You wear them once and throw them out. In my opinion, I think it’s safer and much more clean than the reusable masks. I bought black disposable masks from Amazon. A black mask goes with every outfit so you can’t go wrong there!
Create your own COVID guidelines
Every state is doing their own thing when it comes to the virus. Therefore, it’s important to create your own guidelines that you are most comfortable with. My personal guidelines are to remain socially distanced, outdoor activities, being around people that don’t think this virus is a hoax. The most important thing is to look out for yourself.
If possible, get COVID tested
I am in a fortunate position where I am able to get COVID tested regularly. The assurance of getting a test regularly has allowed me to feel more comfortable going outside and traveling. Even though I am getting tested, I still have to make sure that I am protecting myself when going out.
This virus is very real. We have lost too many lives to COVID-19. However, I know that some of us can’t handle being cooped in the house and need mental breaks. If you are considering taking that leap of traveling, make sure that you are protecting yourself.
