While it is still early, I think we are building up to see some good stuff this season. From messy assistants to a messy tea party, the tea was served the latest episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta.
OG Peach is Carrying
Sheree is making her presence known in her return to Real Housewives of Atlanta. So far she is the main story line. Sheree is never going to let joggers go referencing her Google-inspired joggers t-shirt. Girl that’s all you wear so I get thats your trademark but give the people something else.
It was hilarious seeing Marlo attempt to work out. Marlo working out is me! After 11 seconds I need a break too. I definitely do not like working out at all. There seems to be a genuine relationship between Marlo and Sheree. It was nice to see Marlo seeking advice for how to raise boys. It’s so crazy that Sheree’s kids have been on TV so long that we now see them emerging in their careers. It is so cool that her oldest son, Cairo, is working with Tyler Perry. I’m sure when your mom, or munty, is the star of an Atlanta hit series, it might be easier to get a job.
One thing about Sheree is that she is going to be honest on all fronts. If she hears something from someone else, she’s going to say make sure she brings it up. Sometimes her bone carrying isn’t the best (think about how she threw Kandi under for the “holding a Black baby” comment or even her being in the middle of Nene and Kim’s roach gate) but she gets the gist. That is exactly what is happening this season with the assistant. Interesting enough, Sheree having her friend spill the tea at the child’s party was something that I was not expecting. I think that is the difference Sheree was trying to point out at the tea party — Drew was telling everyone that Sheree wasn’t paying people while Sheree kept it mute about Drew’s husband being gay (I’ll share more thoughts later).
Sidenote: Did anyone notice Marlo mispronounced Sheree’s name?
Messy Romance
There seems to be an underlying storyline this season that is revealing the cracks in the relationship between Todd and Kandi. In no way does it feel as though their relationship is in trouble, but we are seeing that the communication, particularly in business, is not as strong. We know Kandi is a workaholic and this is something that has plagued this relationship from the beginning. Kandi and Todd literally do everything together. I think it is necessary for them to have their separate projects so that they do not lose themselves. We saw this relationship form on Bravo so will we also see this relationship end on Bravo?
Speaking of relationships, we didn’t get any real scenes with Ralph and Drew, but a cut away scene revealed he went to a bar and had two long islands. Now a real drinker knows that one Long Island is just enough to get a buzz. Two? With you homie? Seems a bit odd. As viewers, we really don’t need anymore evidence to prove that Ralph is worthy of the fast lane to divorce.
A Pretty Tea Party
Ms. Kenya Moore, who likes to boast about her 24 inches of real hair, wore a terrible wig when going to see the space for her daughter’s birthday. The parting on that wig was not cute at all. I was also wondering why would she tell the party planner that her soon-to-be-ex husband won’t help with the party. Why are you just telling your business to anyone that would listen? The party planner just wants to know that your check will clear!
The party was absolutely so cute. I love a good tea party theme because it brings out the cutest outfits. It was hilarious seeing the kids at the party. Sanya’s son was definitely giving “I don’t know these people” energy. We can all see that she probably threatens to call dad all the time and nothing happens.
A Messy Game
Leave it up to messy Kenya to play a messy game. I did live for a new “Who said that?” moment. However, why would “Kandi sucks dick in locker rooms” be at the top of anyone’s mind? It is unfortunate that this was diminished because Kandi is always caught up in some kind of sex/sex-related accusation. First it was the sex dungeon, then the alleged drug stuff, being gay, and so many others. We know Kandi is nasty. Bedroom Kandi wouldn’t be a multimillion dollar business if it were not a part of her brand, but Kandi should not be synonymous with sex on the show.
It was messy for Drew to write “Someone doesn’t pay their assistants”. But to then also backpedal on the comment by being awkward and make humor at it. I understand that it was conversation that needed to be had but, as Sheree said, she should have went to her directly. Now for Sheree’s friend to also bud in to share that Ralph is gay is eye-opening. We know Anthony (the assistant) is messy boots. Now I have always listened when a member of the alphabet gang points out their own. If Anthony says that Ralph is gay, then Ralph might be gay. Atlanta is known for having a strong down low community. His comments and treatment towards Drew does not make it far-fetched. However, in my opinion, both Sheree and Drew should be mad at Anthony.
No one expected also a full blown Karen moment. She was okay with sitting at the table when they were talking about sucking dick, but a few b words get to flying and that’s where she draws the line. Girl get your kids and go!
Drew is overworking for that Atlanta peach. Word on the street is that she was to be demoted this season to “Friend of” but received a peach due to Porsha’s untimely departure. This is why, in my opinion, she is trying to go so hard with Sheree. At the end of the episode she is trying to get in Sheree’ s face, claiming she is talking with her hands. Girl! Do you see Sheree’s arms and legs?! We can’t drag this out all season though so I need them to get it together.
Side note: the irony of Kenya agreeing that talking with your hands will get you beat down.
The drama between Drew and Sheree has even made its way to social media where the two cast mates exchanged some tweets.
Another winning episode for The editing team. The way they showcased Marlo working out, the flashbacks, the white refrigerator, the reactions. It was all perfect. The editing team is the true MVP of the season.
