Are you interested in being a Book Blogger? What does that even mean? In this blog post, I will share 4 tips on how to become a book blogger.
Of course you have to READ!
The most obvious tip is to read. There are so many books available. As a book blogger, it is important to read the books and provide the most honest feedback. Reading books can also become an expensive habit. However, there are also a number of different avenues to get free books. I am the biggest advocate for getting a library card. A library card opens up access to so many things as well. I personally use Libby and Hoopla, which give you free access to a wide range of digital books and audiobooks. Other less expensive alternatives would be Kindle Unlimited Plan or even an Audible account. The more that you post content, the more publishers and other members of the book community will reach out to provide you with free books. The only thing you have to start doing is to read.
Determine your platform
There are a lot of different platforms available for you to share your opinions. Determine which platform you will be the most comfortable with. I personally love to use a number of platforms together. I use my Instagram and Tik Tok to feed to my Youtube and personal blog. With this format, Youtube is the shining star and everything leads to that. Once you have finished reading a book, you can record and post a video on Youtube of your opinions. I strongly encourage having a blog because it is something that you own. If any of these social media sites were to capsize today, you will still have the blog that you outright own. Honesty and authenticity is key when sharing your book reviews. Don’t say what you think I want to hear. Be your most honest and unique self. As always there will be people that have their open but don’t sugar coat anything. People are seeking out your opinions to either agree or disagree. If you don’t like a book, that is fine too! I am not a fan of DNF (Did Not Finish), but it happens. Tell us about those too!
Build Community With Other Bloggers
Most book lovers are introverted people (me included). However, it is important to interact with other book bloggers. Not only does it help you as a blogger be aware of the most talked about books, but your book friends really look out for you when you it comes to other potential opportunities. I mainly use my Instagram to connect with other book bloggers. I often host giveaways too! It’s nice to interact with others about different books.
Monetize, only if you want
There is no requirement that you have to be a book blogger for money. In fact, if you love to read, you are going to read regardless. Becoming rich should not be the only outcome, in large part, because it is not sustainable. Reading will become a chore opposed to something that you actually enjoy. However, if you want just a few extra coins, determine ways that you can monetize. For me, I have this blog, where I run ads. I have monetization on youtube. I also have a dropshipping store that removes me from having to maintain any inventory. In all these avenues, I don’t do it for the money but rather my love for sharing information and content.
With every other niche, I am sure there is a lot of money to be made as a book blogger. I am only a few years in (without much consistency) and I have made some extra money. As I embark on this journey, I will be sharing all the things that I learn so that I can help you too!
