Cabo San Lucas, Mexico is one of my favorite places for many reasons. In this blog post, I will share my most recent trip to Cabo and spotlight some of the highlights from my trip.
Lodging
One of my absolutely favorite hotels is Me Cabo. This was my second time staying at Me Cabo and the hotel keeps getting better. The hotel has now partnered with the Rosa Negra group to offer the ultimate dining experience.
I stayed in the Standard Me room, which was about $420 a night. This is a bit pricey for Mexico but here are a few reasons why the price is worth it! First, Me Cabo is centrally located. You are right on the beach with a great view of the Arch. A $5 Uber could get you to downtown in minutes. Second, the service is immaculate. The security on the property is very attentive.
Additionally, I let the staff know ahead of time that I was traveling for my birthday. I was given a dessert and a bottle of champagne. Lastly, there are so many restaurants and the food is great!
Restaurants
One thing that I am always going to do is eat good! I value a good meal more than anything. During my trip to Cabo, we ate at 5 restaurants. Here are my reviews of each.
Confessions (at Me Cabo)
Fresh off the plane, we went to Confessions, which is on the roof of Me Cabo. The ambiance and decor is everything. The lights and music really set a good vibe. I also really loved the large bottles of Moet on the tables.
I wish I could say the same about the food. The food was not memorable. It was mere sustenance to make it through the night. Everything is tapas, or small appetizers. Keep this in mind when visiting.
Funky Geisha (at Me Cabo)
This was one of my favorite restaurants because I absolutely love Asian food. When we got to the restaurant it was completely empty. The decor definitely gives Tulum more than Cabo.
We were given complimentary crab wontons as a starter. The sauce is absolutely delicious. We also had the veggie egg rolls, spicy edamame, chicken lettuce wraps, and a rice dish with chicken, beef and shrimp. Everything was good. I recommend as a great comeback meal.
Taboo (at Me Cabo)
Taboo is one of my favorite restaurants. I had previously visited the Taboo location in Tulum, where I had to be carried out. Taboo Cabo is a bit more chill but still a good time. First, the food is specatular. We started with the ceviche, which is very good. I ordered the branzino, which comes with vegetables. It was salted to perfection. My friend had the lobster, which was huge. The lobster was so good. Taboo can be pricey but it is definitely worth it!
Taboo is also one of the best day parties in Cabo. They have a man walking around with a saxophone. People are getting bottles. The music is good. Since we were staying at the hotel, we hung out at the pool well after the restaurant closed.
Side note: If you are looking the best hookah of your life, order the watermelon mint at the pool!
Bagatelle
There used to be a Bagatelle in Los Angeles many years ago. I celebrated my 25th birthday at Bagatelle so I had high hopes for this restaurant. This was the most dissappointing restaurant experience of the trip. First, the food was not that good to be that expensive. It was not satisfying at all.
I completely understand that Bagatelle is an experience and part of that experience is to see the restuarant transition from being a restaurant to club. We were late to our reservation and missed that so I think that altered our dining experience. So my advice is to go early and get your monies worth.
Maria Jimenez
If you are looking for an authentic Mexican meal, go to Maria Jimenez. Just minutes from downtown Cabo, Maria Jimenez is a great option. The decor made me feel as though I was dropped into the Encanto set. The staff was also so welcoming.
We were given a complimentary sopa that was so good. I had the green chicken enchiladas that was delicious. The mango margarita was so fresh and authentic that I had two!
Nightlife
The best club in downtown Cabo is Crush Nightclub. If you are looking for one of the only places that plays hip hop music. We ended up going to this club two nights in a row. The first night we got bottle service. The second night, our friends got bottle service. My recommendation is, GET BOTTLE SERVICE. This club is not big whatsoever so you if you need a place to sit, get the bottle.
Also, this place stays open really late. However, around 4am the music changes to more EDM. This is also the time that most people begin to leave but that doesn’t mean that your night has to end there. There’s a great taqueria across the street that has delicious food.
