While most would despise the numerous price increases over the year, Chanel continues to be a coveted handbag brand. If you are considering splurging on a functional and fashionable handbag consider adding the Chanel Wallet on Chain to your collection.

History of the WOC
The Wallet on Chain was first introduced in 1997 to add functionality to Chanel’s classic design. It has since become a staple in the fashion house’s brand with numerous variations. The WOC can be worn cross-body, on the shoulder, as well as a clutch. It also comes in different leathers – caviar, lambskin, and patent leather.
Price Increases of the WOC

I purchased my WOC while I was in France in 2024. At the time, the bag was just under 3,000 euros. It definitely is a jumpscare at the price but I was able to save by also getting the tax return as a traveler.
Functionality
The Chanel WOC is such a versatile bag considering its size. The long chain can be adjusted to be shorter as well as double up. It can also be tucked to be a clutch. Also considering its size, the WOC holds all the necessary essentials. There is ample space for cards as well as a zipper compartment and pocket.
The best thing about the WOC is that it is the perfect size that adheres to many of the bag policies at arenas and stadiums. I’ve worn this bag to numerous concerts including Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter Tour.

Purse materials are truly up to personal preference. I tend to lean towards caviar leather because I just personally like it better. I also feel as though it holds up better over time. The Chanel WOC was my second Chanel purchase and the second caviar leather bag. I am a creature of habit so I always go for caviar leather.
Most importantly, the WOC maintains its resale value. If I were to sell my bag today, I can almost guarantee that I would get back what I spent, particularly because I got a classic style that is timeless.
