Telfar is one of the hottest brands right now. I love the variety of colors of their signature shopping tote. I was finally able to get my hands on the coveted bag and thought I would share with you all.
Their social media presence is spectacular. Many Black consumers were narrowing in on Black-owned brands, and began to publicize many brands, Telfar being one of them. The demand for their shopping tote skyrocketed and it became the most coveted bag of the moment.
Taken from their website,
TELFAR is a unisex line Est in 2005 in NYC by Telfar Clemens and sold internationally. It’s not for you — it’s for everyone.
Telfar is considered a luxury brand. While I think that is subjective, I like the idea behind it. Their mission is to make luxury fashions more accessible. Price points are fairly low for luxury brands. Additionally, their mission is to dismantle the idea around exclusivity. Resellers got hip and decided to upsell the purses because of the demand. Telfar decided to create a bag-lock-in program. Customers were able to choose whatever color, whatever size without the hassle of quantity. While I think that idea was absolutely awesome, through the bag-lock-in program, you wouldn’t get a bag until December or January. Knowing my patience, I couldn’t wait. Luckily, the bag that I wanted was preparing for a release and I was able to snag it.
Why I Got A Bag!
After getting the Nike Air Max 90 Duck Camo in orange, I knew I wanted an orange Telfar bag. I went back and forth between small and medium but decided to go with medium, which was a great decision. The small is really small. Smaller than I would have expected. On the other hand, the medium has been the perfect bag for everyday. I am currently using it as my work bag and it can fit my laptop, a few notebooks, and all my other personal items. Below, watch my unboxing video.
Telfar has really blossomed over the last few months. The brand was named accessory brand of the year by the CFDA. Telfar also recently announced a 2021 collaboration with UGG, which is major. I love the outpouring of support that the brand is currently getting. Being a Black-owned brand in fashion seems to be extremely difficult and challenging, but they are making it work!
